FREE School Uniform Shop - S.M.I.L.E Essex & London - Romford Hub

By SMILE Essex & London on 29/06/2021

Due to popular demand we are bringing forward the launch of our Tools for School appeal. As of 14/06/21 we will be inviting our registered clients into our Romford Hub where we are busy setting up our FREE SCHOOL UNIFORM SHOP.

While our registered clients will receive priority for appointments, we appreciate how financially stressful the prohibitive cost of uniform can be for anyone and everyone. Therefore we will be opening this appeal to a broader audience - anyone with proof of Universal Credit or in financial strain will be very welcome to book an appointment to pick up some free school uniform.

If you have any requests for uniform please message the team and we will check our stock.

Further to this we are now ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF BRANDED UNIFORM. Unfortunately we cannot accept donations of unbranded, generic uniform items (eg. white shirts, black trousers etc.) at this time due to storage constraints.

Story - SMILE London & Essex is a registered charity based in Romford supporting low income families struggling to get by. Our charity provides practical support in the way of clothing, food, baby essentials, homeware and advocacy. For the 4th year SMILE is launching our FREE school uniform shop open to our registered clients and for those who are struggling with the cost of uniforms for the new school year.

We hold a large amount of 2nd hand uniforms donated from schools and the community. This stock consists of branded and generic items suitable for nursery, primary and senior schools across Havering, Barking and Dagenham.

Over the past 5 years we have built strong connections closely with social service teams, school welfare officers and health visitors across Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham and the wider areas.

We are extremely proud to be a one stop shop for support in the local community. Our CEO was recently recognized for all her hard work and efforts in the community and was awarded the Community Champion award at the prestigious SHE awards earlier this year.

The Tools for School shop will be open now until End of September. All appointments are subject to Covid regulations.

Donations Required - Branded uniform for local schools, black shoes and PE trainers

How to get support - Email the team with proof of income to info@smilelondonessex.com we will then send over a registration form with the information we require to check our stock

Feedback

‘’From food items, shopping vouchers, utility bill top-ups to toys, clothing, school uniform and many more, your understanding, trust, guidance, commitment and generosity have provided an invaluable lifeline to myself and the families that have been allocated to me in my role of Front Line Officer.

Thank you, S.M.I.L.E for all the help you have offered in relieving the hardship of the families that I have referred onto you and for  making a real difference in their life.

Time and time again the families that I have referred on to you have said that they were thankful for your help and kindness in their time of need.

I look forward to accessing your services in the future for the benefit of many more families facing crisis’’

‘’I’m a single mum of 3 and was referred to smiles through a professional team, smile have been very, very helpful in my time of need and hardship.

The team is so professional and very polite, it was the most overwhelming experience I have been through, at my low point in my life where I have for the first time ever needed to get help from a charity. It was the most difficult time of my life but a smile made me so comfortable with visiting them and getting help from them.

I spoke to a young man called David and still do when I need any help from the food bank or clothes. He is the sweetest and helpful person I have ever come across, they have made a huge difference in my and my children’s life. I pray this charity stays active as many single  parents and families do need this Service Desperately in their everyday life. I  can’t thank  smile enough to help me and my family through our difficult times and I extremely Rely on smiles to help me through this year until I can get myself back on track

Thank you smile for making a difference.
